ABSTRACT
Firefighting performance can be represented by the speed of handling the fire case, which is greatly influenced by the travel speed of the fire trucks to the fire location. This paper aims to determine the fastest routes to markets using remote sensing and GIS techniques for efficient fire emergency services to reduce time wasted in delivering services to fire victims in Gombe metropolis. It is observed that very often, the response of the fire service to distress calls for their intervention following fire outbreaks is well below the required standards. They arrive when significant damages have been done, thus, compromising their efficiency. In this paper, Google earth satellite imagery of the study area was downloaded, coordinates of fire emergency service and markets was obtained using handheld GPS (Garmin Oregon 550), which are Geo-referenced and digitized using ArcGIS (10.3.1). Arc GIS network analysis extension tools was used for the generation of network geo-dataset and to measure the efficiency of services in terms of travel time. The outcome of this paper shows the fastest routes that connects different markets with fire stations. This paper identified two (2) fire service stations (Tashan Dukku fire service and main market fire service) and twenty-four (24) markets. For efficient fire emergency services delivery, the paper recommends the use of real time imagery by creating an application, improvement in road networks in the study area, population distribution should also be a considerable factor in citing fire service stations in future as means for achieving better safety situations.

ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FOR SUSTAINABLE DREDGING
PROF DR OLADOKUN SULAIMAN OLANREWAJU
SEANEXUS.
ABSTRACT
Dredging work and placement leads to changes in the environment. Environmental impact assessment has been employed to address these changes. Risk assessment which rarely covers a large part of the uncertainty associated with dredging work is captured in EIA. EIA focuses on fixed and inflexible standards which have led to post-dredging failures. This makes it necessary to do critical and dependable scientific risk analysis that quantitatively determines whether the changes are serious or irreversible. This paper discusses the new internationally recognized philosophy of risk analysis or formal and system risk-based design that provides the opportunity to focus on the real concern of the dredging project. The paper will discuss the case study of a failed project based on conventional EIA and best practice performance of the systemic risk-based design approach.

ABSTRACT
The increasing migration of Nigerians to highly industrialized countries of the West occasioned by the Japa phenomenon is expected to bring about increased diaspora remittances into the country. Remittances of Nigerians in the diaspora into the county rose by 126 percent from 2013 to 2018. Meanwhile, Nigeria has not been able to record such feat in the last four years, despite increasing numbers of Nigerians in the diaspora. Therefore, this study examined the policy framework within which diaspora remittances into Nigeria are being received and recorded. Relying on data from the World Bank, CBN, Nairametrics, the study found out that not all remittances to the country are pass through official channels, captured and recorded. The study, thereafter, recommended favourable policy framework that will address this problem.

ABSTRACT
The increasing trend of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among young adults is an alarming issue as they are among the major contributors for STI cases worldwide. The impact of these STIs can lead to severe complications to the reproductive health of these young vulnerable adults. The knowledge and awareness of HIV/AIDS which is the commonest known STI is wide because of the awareness created by media and Government programs, but other STIs tend to carry low preference in awareness creation. This study aimed to assessed the prevalence of sexual transmitted infections among tertiary institution students in Kaduna, Nigeria. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 450 tertiary institution students selected from three different schools across the state which include; Kaduna Polytechnic, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic and Kaduna State University using multistage sampling technique. A self-administered questionnaire was used to obtain data which was coded and electronically analyzed with SPSS version 20 software. Chi-square was used to test for associations, level of significance was at p<0.05. The mean age of the respondents was 22.3±4 years. Majority of the respondents were in the first year of study (29.1%). The prevalence of self-reported STIs was significantly high (22%) and there was high level of risk factors associated sexual behaviors among the respondents, about (34%) have multiple sexual partners and only (17.8%) always use condom before intercourse. Knowledge of STIs was found to be significantly associated with the tertiary institution of study, number of sexual partners, watching/reading pornography and level of awareness of STIs prevention. Most of the respondents were aware of the preventive practices of STIs, but a huge gap exists in the knowledge of STIs other than HIV among the respondents with associated high risk sexual behaviors. Hence targeted education to improve knowledge and awareness of STIs among young undergraduate students is recommended.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the relationship among poverty, inequality and economic growth in Nigeria. The study used time series data from Central Bank of Nigeria statistical Bulletin, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and World Bank Report between the periods from 1990 to 2020. The study employed the use of Augmented Dickey Fuller test, Co integration test and Vector Error Correction technique. The unit root test results indicated that all the variables were stationary at first difference and co-integration test confirmed a long run relationship among the variables. The error correction model shows that about 31 percent of the discrepancy between the actual and the equilibrium value of economic growth is corrected or eliminated each year. The result shows that poverty has a negative relationship with economic growth while inequality has a positive relationship with economic growth. Furthermore, the study revealed that inequality and poverty both have significant effect on economic growth in Nigeria. Therefore, the study concludes, that government should work assiduously in putting in place policies that will alleviate the incidence of poverty on rural and city dwellers through social security and implementable poverty alleviation programs in order to achieve a sustainable development in Nigeria.

ABSTRACT
Oil and gas extraction around the world has been connected to a variety of negative environmental, social, and health impacts, especially when governance and institutional quality is poor. In Nigeria, for example, the negative environmental repercussions of oil and gas production in the Niger Delta region have been highlighted in various studies, including the United Nations’ 2011 study. Oil and gas authorities throughout the world are constantly looking for new ways to ensure that oil and gas resources are developed in an efficient, safe, orderly, and ecologically responsible manner throughout their entire life cycle. To successfully manage cumulative environmental risks associated with oil and gas activities, complete and holistic environmental rules must be established and implemented during the project approval, operations, and decommissioning phases of the oil and gas industry. Given the importance of regulations in improving environmental sustainability and good governance in the Nigerian oil sector, it is necessary to review and evaluate various aspects of the regulations and laws in light of current knowledge and advancements in international best practices, laws, governance methodologies, and pollution control technologies.
